STYLISH DESIGNER POCHAMPALLY IKKAT LONG AND SHOT KURTIS FROM TELAGANA@UNNATISILKS

Pochampally, in Telangana, India, is well-known for its Pochampally brand of fabrics, the base fabric being cotton, silk or a blend of the two.

SHOP ONLINE PURE HANDLOOM POCHAMPALLY IKKAT KURTIS
The exquisite finish of the Pochampally comes through the dyeing and weaving of pre-coloured threads which are dyed according to the Ikat or Ikkat technique.
Pure Handloom

The Ikkat technique involves applying bindings which resist dye penetration to the threads in pre-determined patterns and then dyeing the threads.
Weaving

These threads are then woven to produce the desired pattern. When several colours are used, the dyeing process on the threads is repeated for each of the colours chosen.

Cut Out Shoulder Kurti

Then the fabric is woven with the multi-coloured threads into the pattern. Within the ikkat style of dyeing are methods of single-ikkat and double-ikkat.
Ikat Prints

Single ikkat has two variants – warp ikkat where the warp threads are dyed after applying resists according to pattern on the warp threads. After that, only, is the weaving done.

In the weft ikkat it is the weft threads which are coloured by applying resists before the dyeing and then weaving is done.
In either case the dyeing is done prior to the weaving so carefully that the pattern emerges as the weave progresses. In the double ikkat method both the warp and weft threads are dyed before weaving.
Alternatively, in the tie-dye method it is quite the reverse of the Ikkat style of dyeing. Here the threads are first woven and the resist bindings then applied to the fabric before dyeing it.
Tie-dye ikat.

The painstaking efforts of the weavers in maintaining the purity of dyeing and weaving, including the control and placement of threads during the weave contribute largely to the complexity of the weave patterns and pleasing appearance of the stitched apparel.

Colours that are employed for the dyeing of threads are fast and well-chosen. No wonder the outcomes of the Pochampally fabrics display an extraordinary ethnic skill that is hard to match.
Current trends see Pochampally handloom kurtas and kurtis with ethnic patterns, shiny zari borders and designer pallus with stylish designs and colourful prints.

Indian ethnic fare is displayed in a wide ranging variety of quality weaves in vibrant colors that thrill the heart.unique

Women Wear

There are many traditional styles of weaving, dyeing and printing that have given it a niche place in Indian fabrics, both in traditional and trending.

Weaving

Rajasthani cotton is known for its soft and smooth texture and one that allows for a wide range of vibrant and soft colours in organic and man-made dyes.

Stylish Look

While its handlooms display the fine quality of weaving like seen in the Kota Doria, the traditional printing techniques like the Bagru, Dabu, rapid block printing etc. involving the ethnic methods of leheriya, bandhani tie & dye, Sanganer Block, Balotra rapid dye, pigment printing, batik have all been used to create sensational designs and patterns of modern taste, with the cotton fabric affording a good canvas for the display of such fine work.

Floral designs, geometric shapes, abstract prints are all popularly chosen for the Rajasthani cotton and sico creations.

As soulful as the folk music, so engaging are the fabrics. Smooth texture handloom cotton tunics and tops from the desert land of Rajasthan covered by the hand block prints of the traditional Dabu and Bagru, Sanganer block, Rapid Prints, Rajasthani Handlooms have their niche place in the world of fabrics.

Indigo bagru prints

With good affinity for colours, the fine texture handloom weaves are further canvas for the light and dark exotic patterns of the Bandhani, Leheriya Bandhej, perplexing but precisely calculated traditional tie & dye printing processes, and other matching adornments.

PURE KALAMKARI COTTON LONG KURTI FROM ANDHRA PRADESH@UNNATISILKS

Kalamkari is from ‘Kalam’ (pen) and ‘Kari’ (craftsmanship), words taken from the Persian for the art of hand painting done on fabrics with the use of a pen and extended to include hand block printing.
SHOP ONLINE PURE HANDLOOM KALAMAKRI COOTON KURTIS
There are two schools of art that developed Kalamkari initially in India and from individual origins.

Women Wear

Srikalahasti style that used the pen for drawing and filling in the colours, and with a strong influence of Hindu culture that specifically focused on religious subjects and scenes from the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata in its paintings.
Weaving

The Machilipatnam style that came with an Islamic slant, had subjects of paintings mostly depicting flora and fauna, with floral designs as a backdrop on the fabric.
Traditional Look

Both styles that have popularised Kalamkari have one thing in common – the depictions are fine and neatly drawn, there is extensive use of organic colours which are fast, there is no dilution in the skill and quality over the years.
Pure Handloom Kalamakri Kurti

Today’s Kalamkari has both these styles merged into one with different facets within the art.
Kalamkari showcases traditional simplicity, elaborate themes, sharp detailing and attractive motifs in a host of bright and pleasing hues.

Kalamkari comes off beautifully on a whole lot of fabrics like silk, cotton, sico art silks such as georgette, chiffon, Supernet, crepe silk and others.

With vegetable dyes being used, colours are fast and long lasting. Motifs with trees, creepers, flowers, leaves, birds are popular subjects.
Hand Prints

Gloss on the fabric comes from the traditional use of some natural substances such as myrobalan, cow’s milk, cow dung, seeds, plants and crushed flowers in the paintings.

The etching of lines and applying of colour is done with a finely sharpened short bamboo piece which reflects the devotion and skill of the ethnic craftsmen to bring about such exquisite masterpieces despite the limited resources.
A time-consuming and arduous task, that involves patience and dedication, it is the sharpness of the lines, the fine details and the picturesque outcome that make this ethnic effort worth its while.

Kalamkari Indian tunics or the Kurtis and Kurtas in the printed variety have block prints featuring floral designs and geometrical patterns arranged in designer fashion.

Modern abstract designs have also been included in recent times to resounding applause from the market.

Ethnic art is like any other art. It is however the toil and the effort in producing these exceptional works of detail and flawlessness despite the limited resources available, that truly give it its value.
There is a special section on kalamkarikurtis and kurtas. There are kurtis with floral spreads, kurtas with light thematic displays on dark plain backgrounds, tunics with designer necks, plain sections below and the major portion covered in wonderful kalamkari designer patterns on lovely handloom cotton weaves.

Kalamkari fascinates because of the designer patterns and stunning colour combinations that make such fabrics attractive and unique. Traditional art on fine handlooms, Kalamkari fabrics become exclusive and suit for almost any occasion.

PURE RAJASTHANI COTTON FRONT-SLIT KURTA FROM RAJASTHAN@UNNATISILKS

Kurti, style quotient of women in India and the Asian sub-continent, is mostly worn with jeans, skirts and lehengas, sports a different look with different bottoms, accessories and footwear.

SHOP ONLINE PURE HANDLOOM RAJASTHANI COTTON KURTIS
People generally understand that kurti is of shorter length than the kurta, is of lighter material, worn tighter, with lengths of Kurtas being longer.

While there is confusion at times as regards the difference between a kurti and kurta, the prime differences that offer the clarity are:

§  A kurti length can be anywhere from reaching waist height to ending 3 inches above the knee. A kurta starts from ending close to the knees to reaching calf height.

§  The material for kurti is lighter than that for kurta.
§  The fit of a kurti follows contours of the body closer than that followed by a kurta.

Kurtis are mostly worn by women. Kurtas are worn both by both men and women.

The kurti is generally worn with jeans, leggings, skirt and lehenga, shorts.

The kurta is worn with a loose fitting pyjama, a loose salwar, a skin tight chudidar or a wrapped around dhoti of cotton, silk or khadi.

Universally accepted garment, females young, not so young, and old, are comfortable in wearing the stylish, fashionable kurti for the all-day comfort it provides.
At attractive prices, a vast range of colours and designs are available in kurtis.

§  The simplicity of design allows the fabric to be easily accessorized, allows any tailor to give a perfect fit, correctly and within a short time. Readymade kurtis are also very much preffered.

§  The bottoms accompanying a kurti could be any from jeans (chosen the most), leggings, skirt, lehenga, shorts or even the kurti converted into a reasonably good looking dress.

The Kurti is worn mostly in the Asian sub-continent in countries like India, Bangla Desh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan.

The general body types are Apple shape, Pear shape, Inverted triangle shape, square shape, Hour glass shape. The three standard lengths of kurti being
a) waist height
b) ending below hips
c) ending slightly above the knees are therefore carefully considered for a particular shape of body to seem fitting.

Art Georgette Silk Kurtis suit for the party and evening occasion because of their flowing looks. Kurtis of cotton, linen, khadi generally suit for casual wear and routine office and regular wear.

The heavily embellished kurtis with decorated neckline, fancy beads, sequins, pearl work, lace borders etc. all contribute in making it appealing for wedding receptions and exclusive parties. The lightly adorned ones with designer motifs and patch work are the more informal occasions.
A choice of necks, from round, square, V, U, with light, embroidery or plain, a whole host of vibrant colours and pleasing hues, with options of sleeves, nosleeves, half sleeves and three fourth sleeves, and styles like double layered, Anarkali, tail cut, the kurti is an endearing choice for most women in India.
